Program Name Stad Water Polo Club (SWPC)
Age Group 18 and over
Description SWPC is a co-ed recreational water polo club operating from CFB Halifax. The focus of the club is to provide an opportunity for those interested in the sport to learn more about the game while providing a fun and interesting way for players to increase their level of physical fitness. SWPC will also be competing against other clubs in the HRM Water Polo League, recreational games and tournaments in and out of provinvce. As an official PSP recreational club, the SWPC primarily use the STADPLEX pool to train. The club is open to both military and non-military personnel. No experience is necessary and new players are always welcome.
Location CFB Halifax STAD Pool
Timings Monday 19:30 to 21:00 (730pm to 9pm)
Game nights & League play are usually on Friday and Saturday evenings, once a month
Start Date September 14th 2009
End Date April 26th 2010
Cost $250.00 for the whole season
The purchase of a  $25.00 recreational pass fee is required for all non-DND personnel.
PWPA Fee Provincial Water Polo Association (PWPA) fee of $35.00/year is not included in the above fee.  Since SWPC is registered with PWPA (the governing body for water polo in Nova Scotia), all players must pay this fee. Please make the $35.00 cheque payable to PWPA.
Payment Options The cost of fees can be paid in full on the first day of practice or in 4 equal installments payable September 14th, Novemebr 1st, January 1st and March 1st.

Please make cheques payable to Base Fund.

Remarks Water polo is a fun and exciting game with high physical, technical and psychological demands. It’s like no other team sport! No specific skills are required; all you need is a love of the water, a readiness to have fun and the desire to get fit.

Program Name Stad Water Polo Club (SWPC) -Youth Wing -TENTATIVE
Age Group 14 to 17 yrs
Description This program is derived from the successful “Kinder Polo�? program from the Saanich Water Polo School in Victoria BC.

Besides the conventional freestyle and backstroke,  the athletes learn an exciting new aquatic language: specialized water polo strokes – some of these skills come in handy in the course of future Lifeguard Training. The athlete becomes “bilingual�? in the world of aquatics, understanding the similarities and differences between conventional swimming and water polo swimming techniques. Some of these techniques are as follows:

Head Up Freestyle
Butterfly with Whip Kick
Sitting Backstroke
Eggbeater
Sprint starts from vertical and horizontal treading…etc

There will be a scrimmage at the end of each sessions. As well, there will be competitions/games against similar clubs in HRM throughout the year.

The program is open to both military and non-military personnel. New athletes  are always welcome.

Remarks The athlete should be able to swim one length of the pool in freestyle.
